The Benefits of Dental Implants

Watch Video

Dental implants provide numerous benefits over traditional forms of tooth replacement, like dentures or bridges. Some benefits include:

Regain Oral Function

Dental implants look and function like natural teeth. The implant post is embedded into the jaw bone, which acts like a natural tooth root and restores functionality to your smile.

Boost Your Self-Esteem

With a full smile, you can avoid the need to hide your teeth or feel self-conscious around others. The replacement tooth will look so natural, most people can’t tell which teeth are implants.

Prevent Bone Loss

Jaw bone loss can occur due to missing teeth. Dental implants fuse to the jaw bone and are the only tooth replacement options that prevent the jaw bone from deteriorating.

Eat Comfortably

With dental implants, there are no removable parts and you can enjoy your favorite foods with no dietary restrictions.

Types of Dental Implants

There are many types of dental implant treatment available, giving you more options to receive the smile of your dreams. During the consultation, your dentist will walk you through your treatment options and help determine the right type of implant for your needs.

  • Single Dental Implants. We can use one dental implant to replace a missing or failing tooth anywhere in the mouth.
  • Same-Day Dental Implants. After extracting a tooth, your surgeon can immediately place a dental implant at the same appointment.
  • Multiple Tooth Replacement. An implant-supported bridge can replace multiple teeth next to each other in the dental arch.
  • Full-Arch Restoration. Using multiple implants, we can place a fixed prosthesis that restores your entire smile and eliminates the need for removable dentures.
  • Overdentures. Overdentures are removable dentures that fasten to implants, restoring appearance and stability to your smile without the need for dental adhesives.

Dental Implant Surgery: What to Expect

During your first visit, we will take x-rays of your mouth and map out the details of your implant placement.

On the day of your surgery, we will administer the selected form of anesthesia. Many patients undergo  local anesthesia.

Once you are comfortable, your dentist surgeon will make a small incision in the gum tissue and insert the implant post into the jaw bone. Sutures are placed as needed.

The healing process can take several months. Once healed, you will return to our office and the abutment will be attached to the implant.  Many times we will provide a temporary crown to wear over the implant and abutment while it heals. After the soft tissues have healed and your final crown is ready, your dentist will attach the crown.

Cost of Dental Implants

Choosing dental implants to restore your smile is an investment in your health, confidence, and comfort. The cost of dental implants varies for each patient. We take several factors into consideration when determining the cost of implant treatment, including:

  • Dental/medical insurance
  • If tooth extraction or bone grafting are necessary
  • Complexity of the surgical procedure

Our team will go over these factors with you and provide you with a cost estimate for your dental implants upfront. Ocean  Vibes Dental Group accepts many payment methods and there are financing options available to help you finance your dental implant treatment. Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?

A good candidate for dental implants is someone in general good health who has sufficient jaw bone to support the implants. Periodontal disease or gum disease must be treated before receiving implants, because healthy gums are essential to a healthy implant. With bone grafting treatments, we can restore lost bone and help more patients who have experienced bone loss qualify for implants. Frequently Asked Questions

How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants are designed to last for the rest of your life. The post fuses to the jaw bone and as long as you take good care of your implant, it will serve you for many years. To maintain good oral hygiene, simply brush and floss it along with your other teeth twice daily.

Do dental implants hurt?

By using anesthesia, we can ensure your comfort during oral surgery. You can expect some level of discomfort following any type of procedure, but this post-surgical pain or swelling will subside quickly. Your implants will not cause pain or discomfort after they have healed.

What happens if you don’t replace a missing tooth?

Missing teeth can lead to jaw bone loss and gum recession. Nearby teeth can shift into the open gap, which can result in bite misalignment and misalignment. As the jaw bone deteriorates, it can cause facial features to sag, resulting in an older-looking appearance. Severe jaw bone loss may require extensive and costly repairs, which can be avoided by replacing missing teeth with implants early.
